Transfer Credit Policies

- Previous college level course taken with a final grade of "C" (2.0 quality points) or above may be applied to St. Elizabeth's curriculum.
- Science courses (A&P and Microbiology) have a 5-year limit for transfer; all other general education courses have no time limit. This also refers to challenge exams (i.e., CLEP or Excelsior College) for all courses.
- To validate college science credits older than 5 years, applicants can challenge science courses (i.e. Excelsior College Examinations or CLEP) if they have been completed with a grade of "C" or better or passing score.
- An applicant who requests transfer of nursing credits from another degree granting program must
- submit official transcript and course description.
- have earned a grade of "C" or above.
- keep transferred credits within written criteria for graduation.
- have a verbal and/or written reference from previous nursing school director.
- Challenge exams for nursing courses (e.g., Excelsior College Exams) will only be accepted for those courses that the applicant has previously completed with a grade of "C" or better. A challenge exam will not be accepted for any nursing course that the student has previously failed.
- The Dean of Academic Affairs will review individual transcripts for appropriate transfer credit and placement within the curriculum. The applicant is responsible for submitting an official transcript and course description(s), and for meeting with the Dean for academic advisement.
- Students who take Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school will receive credit according to the following grades received:
- Grades 3 and above - acceptable
- Grade 2 at the discretion of the Admission Committee
- Grade 1 - not acceptable
